Our Goals
We have two primary objectives in Youngstown:
- First: to serve, to the glory of God, those that have chosen the ancient and historical faith of Orthodoxy as their own.
- Secondly: to serve those who are temporarily in Youngstown whether studying at YSU or working at one of the local businesses. We recognize the obligation of practical assistance to our local community and its needs while serving without motification from our traditional faith. We hold the dogmatic truths of Christ's original church and do believe there is a difference in theological truths as proclaimed by the many denominations existing today. We celebrate the Historic and Divine Liturgy each Sunday. Those who visit will find that an Orthodox Priest wears vestments when celebrating the services. Our local Churches are decorated with Icons of the Saints, of the Holy Virgin Mary with Christ, and of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. These are all part of the heritage of the Ancient Christian Church.
For each of us the dissemination of the Christian Faith must be a favorite task, close to our hearts and precious to us; in this task each member of the Church must take an active part - some by personal missionary effort, some by monetary support and service to the "needs of the saints, and some by prayer to the Lord that He might "establish and increase His Church," that He might "teach the word of truth " to those who do not know Christ, and "might reveal to them the gospel of righteousness, uniting them to His Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church."

The EOCA is open to any effort that serves the goal of promoting unity among the Orthodox Churches in the area so that all parishioners have access to educational and spiritual development and, when needed, charitable deeds.
