The Six Things Teens Need From The Church.#1 To have a church as a building block to show me right from wrong in theory. For the Church to be a guide in my life.#2 To help me understand my religion better. #3 The Church needs to remain constant,. As I grow and change it's nice to have a solid foundation in life. #4 To teach us how to seek God and maintain a way of life that God wants us to, even though we live in a world that hates God. #5 To give me a sense of what is right in practice. #6 A constant faith in the Church as the mystical body of Christ that is always there and does not change. Our Orthodoxy keeps us on track.
Goals of our YOUTH MINISTRY : #1Focus on teen involvement. #2 Cooperate with other Orthodox Churches. #3 To improve ones spiritual life & religious experience ,reflected by attendance at Church.#4 Leadership training in building relationships.#5 Financial maturity and stewardship. #6 Possible vocations ? Who knows?
My bishop always tells the faithful, those who have been baptized, that the youth are not the future of the church. That the youth are already in the church now! You are part of the Kingdom of God on earth now! This is very good news, because you are important and you could do something right now. On the other hand, you become responsible now for your actions & behavior.
My bishop also says to make your home a "little" church. You have icons in church, so be sure to have them in your home. There are crosses in church, you could put them in your home . You have prayers in your church. Well, have them in your home also. First of all, be yourself. Now where do you see yourself in five years? (How about in ten or twenty years?) Remember to set realistic goals for yourself: short range, then intermediate goals, then your long range goals. Whatever your goals are, be sure you focus on the things of God as you grow-up. "Life on this earth will soon pass. Only what’s done for Christ will last."
